During the recording process, the sonic qualities of 18 different cymbals were methodically captured by sound designer and recorder Thomas Brodeur and the Sonomar team. Each cymbal was carefully struck at different speeds, angles, and locations (bell, rim, bow) with wooden sticks and mallets, allowing for a wide range of tonal colors and nuances.

Over 450 unique cymbal sounds were recorded using three separate stereo pairs for a variety of distinct timbres and perspectives, resulting in over 1,300 files in total – each with a single cymbal hit or oneshot. All recordings were captured at 192kHz for endless creative possibilities in pitching and processing.
